My Story
As a young man, my grandfather introduced me to horses and riding at his farm in my native country of Cuba. I would spend every weekend and any day off from school that I could to ride his horses. In 1985, my family immigrated to the United States and even though I needed to concentrate on learning a new language, a new culture, and getting an education I was determined to have horses remain a part of my life. I wasn’t always able to own a horse, but I was always able to find places to rent or lease horses.
I’ve always been passionate about the outdoors and experiencing God’s creation. For me the idea of riding in beautiful landscapes on a horse that I developed, trained, and built a trust with, well… I can’t think of too many things that can match that. In 2014 I purchased a foundation quarter horse, Sassy (who’s still with me today and now helping others learn horsemanship). My desire was to go trail riding, camping, and enjoy the company of other horse enthusiasts. But I soon realized that with my limited horsemanship skills and a fast, athletic performance horse, I needed some help, or I was going to eventually get hurt.
I’ve been fortunate to have some great mentors in horsemanship. One of those mentors told me that if I wanted to truly understand horses and establish mutual trust, I would have to spend many hours studying the horse, from books and other horsemen to top clinicians, and perhaps most importantly, the horse itself. And that’s exactly what I did. I couldn’t consume enough information about horses. I read, watched videos, rode continuously, and went to many clinics. It was at a Clinton Anderson clinic in Texas that I learned that a method could be applied to horsemanship. This set me on a trajectory that changed almost everything. So much so that other horsemen in my riding clubs, fellow trail riders, and friends noticed that not only had I changed but my relationship with my horses changed! It was at this point that people began asking for help with their horse relationships.
Becoming a trainer of horses and horse people was never on my radar, but now after almost 10 years and hundreds of horses trained, it’s difficult to express how blessed I feel to be able to help both horse and horse person build trusting and rewarding relationships with one another by simply sharing the things that I’ve learned along my journey.
This has and continues to be one of the greatest experiences. I hope you’ll join me on this journey of the horse-human relationship.

Harmony in horsemanship, Passion in practice.
